  Definitely worth doing. Would do it again. - A very informative tour of Rochester by John on Saturday 3rd December. He spoke very clearly and certainly knew his history with the facts regarding Charles Dickens connecting the books... read more to the places of interest. He spoke about the seven travellers and I know that if I stood outside the building, I would know what it meant. Obviously there many other points of Rochester's history that brought the Dickens novels to light.

Our guide was very relaxed which made for a nice comfortable experience even in times of Covid-19. Rochester is a delight. This is an "easy" tour in that Rochester is small but makes up for it in History and wonderful buildings/architecture. This tour did not take you inside the Cathedral as insufficient time, but does make stops and references outside which gives you a taste for wanting to see more! Would thoroughly recommend, an absolute perfect way to spend an afternoon followed by refreshment's. Plenty of choice along the High Street. We were lucky enough to be the only participants so we got a very personal and informal guide, from the... read more many Dickens links to the Norman invasion and the connection of the castle to Henry VIII. Would definitely recommend to those with an interest in history and those keen to explore beyond the High Street with its many shops and eateries. The society do a lot to keep the town in tip top condition so even if the tours is free a little contribution goes a long well. Thanks Roger for a lovely tour.
